IIDA Community College, located in (Poonjeri) Mamallapuram, between Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry, is a leader in skills training education. Since 2006, the college has been working to provide job oriented education to the underprivileged youth in the local communities. Besides high-quality technical education, the college provides training in soft skills, Spoken English and life coping skills to students in all streams. The educational activities are designed in line with the needs and demands of the local community. More specifically, the main objective of this College is “to offer job-oriented courses based on the perceived community demand for specific manpower”. In short, Community College is “for” the Community and “of” the Community. The College performs three major functions namely, teaching, training, and extension. It attempts to create a model of employment oriented education with adequate mutual collaboration and cooperation of members from various commercial, government and academic institutions and organizations.
Objective: The objective of the IIDA community college is to provide career-oriented, value based, quality education that prepares students for a job straight out of college.
