In Pallavaram, the young men can do the Fitter’s training, the Carpentry program, the Computer program or the Sheet Metal training. The first three courses lead to government examinations that are recognized all over India. They are also taught to produce metal equipment and furniture, particularly in the second year of training. The income from the sales of the goods helps subsidizing the high cost of training and boarding. There are around 80 boys that are enrolled in Pallavaram at any time. The boys stay in hostels on campus, and these hard-working young men are also provided wholesome food in their hostels! The boys are divided into three groups with home-parents in charge of their hostels. The aim of this center is to provide a good preparation for the future lives of the trainees. Like all the other training centers, emphasis is placed on discipleship. The boys attend the Sunday services, they have regular devotions conducted by the home parents, and they also have monthly retreats, where one group out of the three go away for a weekend. |
